I picked up Basil (my upright bass) from the Cincinnati Bass Cellar!! I’m overwhelmed with all the rust on my chops. Thankfully, I have an orchestral concert with the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas to gear up for. We’re playing Antonin Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony as well as Johannes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme By Haydn; It should be a great concert. the first movement of Symphony 9 is my favorite to play and to listen to, but I have a fond memory of the fourth movement from my childhood with my older brothers: staying up late listening on our stereo while we imagined ourselves as boxers in the ring– the music punctuated our imaginary blows. It was the best time we could have as children without going to jail.
